NaPoWriMo Day 11: The Kiss

She remembered that he sat there,

Curled into each others warmth,

The haze of long days consumed their eyes

And yet they stayed – and stayed.

Neither wanting to call the night,

Nor wanting to turn off the light,

That beamed into a darkened room.

The smell of sweet tiramisu filled

Within their stomachs as one hand,

Frightened to move – to move,

Stead fast to a remote that moved slowly,

Searching for memories past solely.

They laughed out loud and to themselves,

The heat closed in on them,

His eyes fixed on hers,

Their hearts beat frantically, and yet, they stayed the course.

Not knowing what would take place,

But knowing that that would be the case,

Should either one move an inch.

The minutes passed by heart-achingly.

He moved closer and smelled so sweet,

And as she turned her head to face – to face,

His eyes were fixed on hers

And kissed, the lips were hers.

Warm and sweet, the heart swelled,

And taste was chocolate laced,

He touched hand to cheek,

And the whole world dimmed – dimmed,

Screen to black,

There was no going back.
